Salsa Verde

I don’t like to poke fun at others workout systems, because at least they’re doing something, but this is so blatantly wrong I had to post it. Favorite Quote: “No women should lift more than 3 lb. weights. Ever.”
Of course, Gwyneth’s diet is lacking in most macronutrients and contains just barely enough calories to sustain the basic functioning of the body. I’d wager she’d kill to get her hands on a T-bone or some bacon.

Recipe Corner:
The only things surviving in my garden right now are tomatoes and peppers. I was looking for something to do  with our bumper crop of Anaheim peppers, and I found this recipe. It’s mild and tangy with good flavors all around. Not to mention it’s really easy to make.  We’ve had it on salmon, eggs and plan to have it on flank steak. It’ll make about a quart that’ll keep in the fridge for a couple of weeks.
Salsa Verde
  • 12-15 tomatillos, husks removed, quartered*
  • 5 cloves of garlic
  • 1 medium white or yellow onion, skin removed, coarsely chopped
  • 1 bunch cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 1 jalapeno, seeds removed
  • 3 large green chiles, (such as Poblano, Ancho, Anaheim or Hatch) roasted and skins removed
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice

*If you can’t find tomatillos fresh, the canned will work just as well.

Preparation:

Add onions, jalepeno and tomatillos into a food processor and pulse 4-5 times. Add in remaining ingredients and pulse until desired consistency.Salsa verde can be served immediately, but is better when it sits in the refrigerator overnight to let the flavors meld.

I’ve heard this garbage before, I guess she’ll never have kids if she says that woman should never “lift more than 3 pounds ever”. Way to reinforce the woman as a weaker gender stereotype…

I can’t stop laughing at this video. I’m trying to NEVER look like Gywneth! She looks like she could break at any moment. She also looks like she would cry like a baby after attempting one of our wods.

kelly – this is the same gwyneth that had her ‘lifestyle website’ called GOOP. thats what her muscles are anyway – GOOP. Seriously?? no woman should lift more than 3 lbs?? – umm so does that mean you don’t pick up your child because he/she weighs more than 3 pounds? Paul, this video was so wrong in many ways.
Nate bought some new bands – we should try this at the gym today!

Vilas, if you are going to try it out, don’t forget about the 40 minute ‘dance-cardio’ and then the clearly important ‘butt workout.’ The bands were just for show, the butt workout is really where its at.
